Chinese National IPR Protection Network Project is established by the National Working Group for IPR Protection and the Ministry of Commerce in accordance with the Outline of the 11th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development and the Outline of IPR Protection Actions (2006-2007), involving 17 Ministries and relevant administrations of local governments at all levels.

The Project mainly includes establishing both the Chinese and English versions of the web portal Intellectual Property Protection in China (www.ipr.gov.cn) and 50 sub-websites; constructing IPR protection operational system; setting up 50 Service Centers for Intellectual Property Protection; building national IPR protection working mechanism; and carrying out IPR publicity and training nationwide.

       
 

Intellectual Property Protection in China

The web portal Intellectual Property Protection in China (IPR in China) in both Chinese and English is the information center and working platform for the Chinese National IPR Protection Network Project. On April 26, 2006, it was formally launched by Mr. Jiang Zengwei, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce and Director of the State Office of Intellectual Property Protection at China High-level Forum on Intellectual Property Rights Protection in Beijing. The website aims to develop into the most authoritative and specialized information service platform and a window for foreign communication on China's IPR protection within three years and provide various IPR-related services for obligees at home and abroad.It is committed to interdepartmental and interregional IPR protection work, thereby realizing information sharing and joint surveillance, ensuring timely investigation and handling of IPR-related cases, and enhancing enterprises' capabilities of IPR protection as well as the public awareness of IPR protection.

English version of IPR in China

The English version of IPR in China has experienced a thorough page renewal and content updating since its establishment. At present, there are 8 main columns including 30 sub-columns as well as IPR reporting and complaint, online consultation, IPR specials, etc.. The website publishes the information from members of the National Working Group for IPR Protection and local related departments across China and fully reflects the development of IPR protection in China. As a state level information service platform, it has become a first-class professional English website with largest amount of information, most rapid update and greatest influence in China’s IPR field.

Chinese version of IPR in China

Since the opening of the website IPR in China, the Chinese version has kept being optimized and improved, which has enriched the content and attracted more attention from the public. As of April 2007, the number of main columns has increased to 11 from the original 6 and the amount of sub-columns has even reached up to over 70. The Chinese version of IPR in China, which integrates the IPR-related information from 17 members of the National Working Group for IPR Protection and all IPR-related fields throughout China, has become the most comprehensive national information service platform for publishing IPR protection information in China.

Sub-websites of IPR in China

According to the layout of the website IPR in China, sub-websites are established to reflect developments and situations of local IPR protection work, to provide information services for the public, and to achieve IPR reporting and complaint online. From July to September 2006, all 50 sub-websites opened to the public in three batches. At present, the 50 sub-websites are under normal operation and have become the window for releasing IPR policies and displaying achievements of the hotline 12312 as well as members of local working groups for IPR protection.
