In 2006, the Chinese
government decided to set up 50 Service Centers for Intellectual Property
Protection (SCIPPs) throughout the country and to put in place a "12312"
hotline as well as an Internet service platform.
The SCIPPs advise intellectual property holders and the
public on laws and policies in the field of IPR protection and provide
guidance to IP holders who file their complaints at the relevant IPR
enforcement departments. The centers also handle the reporting from the
general public on IPR infringements. In addition, tasks such as
providing information to the government departments concerned and
organizing IPR-related publicity and training also fall into the
responsibilities of the SCIPPs. |
