Forum on China's New Patent Law and Its Influence on Enterprises was held on February 3 and Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Tian Lipu attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech.

In his speech, Tian Lipu particularly elaborated on the changes of China's patent system after the implementation of the newly revised patent law and the role of SIPO during the revision. Tian pointed out that, the revised patent law moderately raised the criterion of patent grants, strengthened the protection of patent rights, added perpetuating testimony system before prosecution, consummated compensation system due to infringement and defined that the design patentees had rights to prohibit others to sell their design products with offering for sell.

Tian Lipu also stressed that, the revised patent law rightly balanced the interests between patentees and the public and practically avoided the obstacle of innovation due to misuse of patent rights.
