Liaoning Provincial Agricultural Product Quality Supervision and Management Bureau publicized that, at the end of last year, four kinds of agricultural products in Liaoning won the national certificate of registration of geographical indication (GI), thus, Liaoning Province has got 9 kinds of native products gaining this honor and were protected by law.

GI of agricultural products indicates that the agricultural products come from a specific region, the product quality and related characteristics primarily lies on the natural ecological environment and historical humanistic factor, and named by the geographical names. Fujian Oolong Tea, West Lake Longjing tea and others have become famous brands in domestic and international markets.

Liaoning has started the GI application and protection work since 2008, and five characteristic agricultural products gained GI protection in that year. [Chinese version is available on SIPO.gov.cn]
