According to the statistics of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), in 2009, Yibin filed 656 pieces of patent applications, 149 more than that in 2008, rising by 29.4% and accomplishing 123.7% of the task of the whole year.

Of these patent applications, 386 pieces were granted with patents, and the accumulated number of patent applications hit 4,787 pieces. Among these 656 patent applications, 502 came from enterprises, accounting for 76.5% of the total applications, increasing by 45.1%, indicating that enterprises are still in the leading position in respect of patent applications in Yibin city.
